The Department of Economics and Finance of Luiss University invites outstanding scholars to express their interest for one full-time Assistant professorship of Big/Smart Data Analysis.
We seek candidates with a strong commitment to research and teaching and the aspiration to contribute to Luiss University’s international expansion and visibility.
Candidates must hold or be close to completing a PhD from a leading university and show a strong research potential.
Ideal candidates will show the ability to produce top quality research in Statistics and Data Science, with a special focus on Statistical Learning, Analysis of Complex and Big Data, Interaction between Optimization and Statistics, Computationally Efficient Algorithms for the Statistical Analysis of Big Data. Although research in any area of modern Statistics will be considered, special attention will be given to the following fields
Candidates will be able to teach and publish in English. International experience in a leading research institution is particularly advantageous.
Role and Responsibilities
The Assistant Professor is expected to undertake rigorous and innovative research in their field(s) of interest, publish in high quality international journals, and provide academic assistance or leadership in research activities. They are also expected to contribute to the collegial and intellectual life of the University and of the Luiss community at large.
The position of Assistant Professor is for a three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal upon positive evaluation from the Department. Teaching load is 60 or 120 hours per year, depending on the condition of engagement, either in undergraduate or graduate programs. Teaching assistantships are available.
The position holder will also supervise master’s dissertations and bachelor’s papers and is expected to contribute to our ambitious doctoral program. Appointments are full-time and the salary is competitive.
About the Department of Economics and Finance
The Department of Economics and Finance offers Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees. Faculty develops and shapes research agendas in the global academic arena with the aim of developing new paradigms to understand and address societal phenomena. Beyond conducting research in the main areas of economics and finance, faculty research interests include non-parametric statistics, stochastic games, network analysis and dynamic optimization.
